The Jewish community of Latvia lived at the crossroads of East and West and was the home of such distinguished people as Isaiah Berlin and Sergey Eisenstein. This book is a full history of the Jews of the region, from the first arrivals in the sixteenth century to the end of the twentieth, when the Holocaust and the second Soviet occupation resulted in the demise of the Jewish community in Latvia.
