After the coup in Czechoslovakia in 1948, the Communists tried to overhaul and "reprogram" the teachers and student body at the University and Medical School in Bratislava by intimidation, ruthless "reeducation" and social engineering. A sweeping political revolution was orchestrated resulting in degradation of the university"s professional and ethical merit.
