Recognizing that in industrialized and affluent Euro-American populations there is an epidemic of malocclusion, this volume summarizes the literature and history of orthodontic aetiological thinking, related disorders, worldwide and time-successive human comparisons. In particular, it point to the investigations into chewing exercise resulting from resistant foods as the chief culprit.
