Aleksandr Trifonovich Tvardovskii (1910-1971) was an outstanding poet and the editor-in-chief of the legendary magazine Novyi Mir, which radically changed the mind of the reading audience in the 1960s. This volume of his diaries covers the roaring 1950s: death of Stalin, XX Congress of the CPSU, the nomination as editor-in-chief of Novyi Mir (1950), the transformation of the magazine, "ottepel", his relations with A. Fadeev, M. Isakovskii, S. Marshak, E. Kazakevich and others.
