I once saw a sticker in the window of a car: "Come over to the Dark Side. We got Cookies." It made me laugh. The Dark Side can be amusing, as in Mrs Vogel"s Ghost, but it can be very bleak indeed. Hantu-Hantu is one of the darker tales in this collection, set in Malaya in the fifties. Two of the stories relate to the powerful imagination of childhood. But is it imagination, or is there something else?
