The Heroic Adventures of Dizzy Jr. is a book about a duck who has a bill like a pelican. His brothers and sisters make fun of him by calling him "Big Bill Jack." His father has faith in this duckling and tells his brood that Dizzy Jr."s large bill will come in handy some day. True to his father"s word, Dizzy Jr. does some amazing things with his large bill. He puts out a fire and saves the farmer, he saves the sheep from a pack of wild dogs, and he vacuums up flood waters, saving the farmer"s sheep. All seems to be going well until the young duckling starts school. The letters keep moving on the page. In a game of "Mother, May I?" he reverses the six and sees it as a nine. All the farm animals make fun of him. Dizzy Sr. intervenes and tells Dizzy Jr. he just needs to find the modification that will work for him. He puts on dark glasses, hoping no one will recognize him. This might just be the modification he needs to be successful in reading. The Heroic Adventures of Dizzy Jr. shows what it is like to be different and feel left out. We all experience these feelings at some point in our lives. We can all overcome these feelings with a modification or two.
