Ambient Egypt, Sounds From Ancient Sources explores the rich sounds of the ancient world through replicated instruments built and performed by the composer, Douglas Irvine. Blending timeworn elements with the pulse of contemporary world music, Ambient Egypt explores sparse, haunting and percussive soundscapes composed solely from traditional acoustic sources. The CD debuted in 1998 as the soundtrack to the Seattle Art Museum exhibition, Egypt, Gift of the Nile. Ambient Egypt’s popularity continues in major museum exhibitions and documentary films internationally.
