Trinidad steel drummer Robert Greenidge (who has worked with everyone from John Lennon to Taj Mahal) and Arkansas keyboardist Michael Utley (who"s worked with everyone from Aretha Franklin to John Prine) are both members of Buffett"s Coral Reefer Band, and Club Trini is their fourth album as a duo, though their first in eight years. Joined by fellow Coral Reefers, Greenidge and Utley serves up eight breezy Caribbean instrumentals and one vocal number, "Love Is Made of This," sung by Nadirah Shakoor, formerly of Arrested Development and now with the Coral Reefer Band. All the music is bouncy, tuneful, and well played, but it"s so simple and easygoing that it inevitably becomes background music rather than foreground music. --Geoffrey Himes
