Miller"s career had many facets: statesman, politician, soldier, educator, author and churchman. During the First World War he served as an artilleryman with the First Division in France and after he attended Oxford as a Rhodes scholar. Miller was a leader of the Century Club Group. Although a Virginia aristocrat, Miller worked to bring progressive government to Virginia.
