Flavian. Zhizn prodolzhaetsya

This book by popular Russian Orthodox writer Archpriest Alexander Torik was written by the author in 2007, and is the second book in the Flavian trilogy. Flavian: Life Goes On continues the story of Aleksei and Father Flavian. Life presents them with new challenges, and shows them new and wonderful dimensions of human fates. The story moves from a typical Russian countryside to the ancient land of Hellas and the spiritual glory-swept Athos peninsula, where ascetics and hermits have been laboring spiritually for more than a thousand years, far from the eyes of the world. There, extraordinary meetings and events await Father Flavian and Aleksei, setting them new courses in their spiritual lives. In this book the reader will meet both a core of old acquaintances (Father Flavian, Alekesi, Irina) and new characters. As a priest, the author seeks the answers to the most pressing questions for the Orthodox layman: about unceasing prayer in the world, about the last times, about warring with the passions, and about increasing faith in the human soul.Back cover pageFather Alexander, tell us, did the events described in your books actually take place? They did, however fantastic they may seem. At times the reality in which God acts is stranger than any fiction! Of course, artistic license has been exercised to a greater or lesser degree - names, circumstances, and particulars have been changed. But the essence of each event remains altered, since it is through this that we are able to trace the wonderful action of God"s saving providence in the world.Father Alexander, were you involved in any of the events you describe, or did you hear of them all from others?I was indeed involved in some of the events myself.Father Alexander, what motto would you choose for your work?"How happy we are to have such a loving Father - the Lord!"
