The brilliant pianist and organist Iain Farrington features as soloist in this revelatory new recording of his piano and orchestra transcription of Elgar s Concert Allegro for piano. Written in 1901 for Fanny Davies as a Concerto (without orchestra) , the work was long forgotten until it was rediscovered in 1969. The disc is completed by another Farrington transcription, this time of Elgar s Second Symphony for piano solo. All are world premiere recordings.
