Kicking Indifference

Can you hear it? Yes, it"s been a long time coming. And there have been delays and lineup and management changes. But the pictures are back. Davey lane and luke thomas - "kicking indifference". Davey lane is of course the young, talented guitar-slinger in australian music icons, you am i, (and hired gun for the likes of jimmy barnes and crowded house). Luke thomas has been davey"s trusty sidekick and bassist in the pictures since the band kicked off at the beginning of this decade. "kicking indifference" is the band"s second album, and comes more than three years after their acclaimed debut, "pieces of eight" - an album that garnered rave reviews across the country, and was a triple j album of the week. Self-produced and self-financed, "kicking indifference" is a grand, glorious record. Davey calls it, "a little bit trashy, a little bit kitchen-sinky with a wee splash of bombast", adding with a laugh: "it"s the sort of record that queen would make - if they were making it in ferntree gully." Forgetting fads, davey and luke had one simple aim - to make an album of great songs. From the wonderfully instant first single, "can you hear it", to the twisted psychedelic funk of "give me some", and the rollicking "so long my friend", "kicking indifference" is quite a trip. It"s an album of curveballs, killer choruses and a wonderful crescendo. Yep, make no mistake, the pictures are back!
