In this environmental science unit, students build model houses and model water heaters to learn more about solar power. An introductory paper activity defines controlled experiments, variables, and outcomes. Students conduct experiments to determine the effects of size, color and number of windows on the amount of heat produced from sunlight. Solar power is investigated.
