This book is a compilation of reviews covering the major areas of free radical science. Physiological and pathological aspects of free radical reactions are considered. While the contributions reflect the differing backgrounds and interests of investigators involved in basic or applied studies, all take a "vertical" approach to the main fields in which free radicals are assumed to play an important role, such as ageing, cancer, metabolic disorders, inflammation, radiation and mutagenesis. In addition, special emphasis is placed on the medical aspects of free radicals.
