Bronislaw Huberman was one of the violin giants of his time. Even though he made some major electrical recordings, it"s worthwhile listening through the limited sound of these acoustics (with a few very early electrical items) to hear his penetrating musicianship applied to mostly light violin showpieces. In general, Huberman"s Brunswicks have been difficult to tolerate because of high levels of surface noise. Recording engineer Ward Marston has done a wonderful job of taming the surfaces while bringing out the violin sound with vivid presence. If this set is a museum piece, it"s a beautiful one that should appeal to any serious violin lover. --Leslie Gerber
