The Interpellation of Malcolm Compson is a novel about the making of a radical communist in late 20th-century America. After a peculiar accident causes a memory loss, Malcolm Compson needs to remember how he wound up in rural Pennsylvania, before he can decide whether he wants to return to what may be a life of crime, or of political activism, or both. This is a novel in the tradition of American political fiction.
