On Friday, November 22, 1963, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States, was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. This is perhaps the only existing recital recording made that very evening - featuring the young John Browning at the College of William and Mary. In a profoundly moving spoken introduction, Browning dedicates his program to the fallen president. At the end of the recital, only the pianist"s footsteps are heard as he leaves the stage in silence.
