Three Socratic Works
Xenophon"s Apology, Memorabilia, and Symposium--three ancient works that shed light on Socrates and life in ancient Athens--are offered here in accurate, fluent translations by James Doyle. In his general introduction Doyle discusses the importance of Xenophon"s account and its relationship to the portrayal of Socrates found in the works of Plato. Introductions to each selection provide historical context. A bibliography and index of names are also included.
