Inca Life (Ticktock Books: Early Civilizations)
This vast Andes Mountain empire in what is now Peru and northern Chile developed a sophisticated social system, architecture, cities with terraced gardens on mountain tops, agriculture, and trade routes. It was vanquished by the Spaniard Pizarro in 1532. The remains of some of its high mountain cities, for instance, Macchu Picchu, were not discovered until the early twentieth century.
