On Low Country, Throw bring "rock" about as close to ambient as it can get without crossing over the line and actively inducing drowsiness. Tender acoustic guitar caresses, with gentle shading from an electric guitar and drum, a voice that rarely rises above pillow-talk levels: the combination makes for songs so ephemeral that it"s almost impossible to focus in on them. The exceptions are the middle section of the eight-minute-plus "A Walk in Space," an active instrumental that creates the same lazy-day-in-an-open-meadow mood as the rest of the EP, and "Nothing Like You," an absolutely compelling coffeehouse number that closes out the six-song collection. --Randy Silver
