An Insider"s History of the University of Tampa and Plant Hall
Dr. Sean Maddan is Associate Professor of criminology and criminal justice at the University of Tampa. In his six years of service to UT, he has made great contributions to the university through his service as Chair of the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice, a member of the Faculty Senate, a member of the Faculty Senate Executive Committee, and Chair of the Curriculum Committee. When not engaged in making a UT a better place for students, faculty, and staff, Dr. Maddan is prolific in his scholarly research on criminality and criminal justice processes. Dr. James Beckman spent 15 years at UT, including four years as a student (1986-1990), and eleven years as a faculty member (2000-2011). During his time at UT as a faculty member, he oversaw UT"s Law & Justice program, and served as Chair of the Department of Government, History and Sociology for several years. He left UT in 2011 to accept an appointment as the first permanent department chair (and tenured professor) of one of the largest undergraduate law programs in the United States (at a public university that is itself the second largest university in the country).
