This proceedings provides discussion of software engineering methods, techniques and tools used inside and outside medical informatics. Thirty-three papers are presented in ten sessions addressing topics including: SE strategies; SE environments and prototyping; SE for medical information systems; SE applications; and SE for knowledge management. This proceedings is a particularly timely one, as new techniques, new application domains, and increasing information demands require research on new software engineering methods and generalization of existing methods and techniques.
