Regulation of Hemodynamic Nociceptive Reactions: Opioid and Adrenergic Mechanisms (Soviet Medical Reviews Series, Section G)
The Hypothesis that opioid and adrenergic nociceptive reactions are distinct is substantiated. The authors describe the receptor mechanisms underlying the analgesic action of the drug clonidine and outlines its advantages compared to opiate analgesics on the basis of their own and others data. The results of clinical trials are given and the prospects for the use of clonidine and its analogues in pain relief are described.
