Journalist Pete Killharney publishes an annual "hit list" of the ten worst New Yorkers. When the targets are murdered one by one, Killharney becomes a reluctant celebrity. He dedicates himself to unmasking the killer, plunging into games of hide and seek and unexpectedly finding new love.
