It has been made into the shape of a traditional shepherd"s crook, as originally used by shepherds to catch members of their flock by hooking them around the neck. The shaft is made of hazel wood, a traditional country wood that is highly prized for its distinctive colouring and texture. It is fitted with a smart horn ferrule and collar.
