Ever since 1996, when Raw Fusion started out as a club in downtown Stockholm, Mad Mats and his colleagues have provided the Swedish audience with the freshest underground rhythms around, no matter where they come from or what they"re called. The club and two Fusion festivals have seen people like Joe Claussell, Gilles Peterson, The Roots, Louie Vega, Jay Dee, Kyoto Jazz Massive, Theo Parrish, Jazzanova and lots more seduce the bubbling dance floor. A Fusion Soul Classics Collection saw daylight in 1999 and provided the whole world with the club"s definition of soul. In 2001 it was time to tell the same world what is happening on the Scandinavian scene when Raw Fusion went into a new era by becoming an independent record label. With 9 diverse releases so far, and the birth of the more hip hop and soul oriented sub label Jugglin", Raw Fusion Recordings has become a positive force in the development of Scandinavian underground dance music - adding new patterns with a deep and urban feeling to an already recognised genre. On Raw Fusion Recordings, electronic, jazzy, soulful and Latino sounds are mixed in different proportions with an always surprising and pleasuring outcome. It"s often hard to know what to expect from the next release (thus the name Raw Fusion), they differ from each other both in sound and appearance, thanks to label manager Mad Mats diverse and always developing taste. The label also has much to thank for its success because of the always skilful and funked up sleeve design by graphic artist (and manic disco freak) Mark Seven. With space for both new and already established underground Scandinavian artists, the label is based on the same foundation as the successful club: It"s not about style; it"s about a feeling! That particular Raw Fusion feeling is well captured on this compilation, bringing you a hint of the label"s upcoming releases and some snippets from the past. Inside Scandinavia is a title that refers to the Raw Fusion feeling, and to the musical treasure held by an expanding group of artists and producers in a corner of Northern Europe.
