The title of Paul Revere and the Raiders" 1967 release Revolution! refers to the Revolutionary War uniforms that had been the quintet"s visual trademark, as well as the musical revolution that was in full swing at the time. The era"s expanding musical consciousness is reflected in the playfully experimental attitude that dominates the album, which is regarded by many observers as the Raiders" response to Sgt. Pepper"s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Revolution!, entirely co-written by lead singer Mark Lindsay and producer Terry Melcher, includes the hits "Him or Me (What"s It Gonna Be?") and "I Had A Dream," along with such fan favorites as "Reno," "Mo"reen" and "Gone-Movin" On." The Sundazed CD edition adds three non-LP bonus tracks, including the tongue-in-cheek band autobiography "Legend of Paul Revere."
