Detailed 1/72 scale model kit of the Supermarine Spitfire, a legendary World War II single-seat single-engine fighter of the British Royal Air Force. Originally designed by Reginald Joseph Mitchell in 1936, the Spitfire features a sleek airframe and distinctive elliptical wing, which made it aesthetically pleasing but more importantly, it gave the Spitfire exceptional aerodynamic characteristics. Fitted with a 700 horsepower Rolls-Royce Merlin engine and eight wing-mounted .303 Browning machine guns, the Spitfire was a truly deadly adversary, as Luftwaffe pilots soon discovered. This 1/72 scale model kit depicts the Mk.Vb Trop or or type 352 Spitfire, which was fitted with a 1,440 horsepower Merlin 45 series engine with new supercharger incorporated, a large Vokes air filter fitted under the nose, and painted with new "desert" camouflage scheme. This 1/72 scale model kit comes with parts to build both the Spitfire Mk.Vb and Mk.Vb Trop variant and a display stand.
