Theodore Anthony Nugent, also know as The Nuge, The Motor City Madman, or Uncle Ted, is best known as axe-grinding hard-rocking Ted Nugent. Hailing from Detroit, Michigan, Nugent began his professional music career fronting the Amboy Dukes, who scored a hit single in 1968 with "Journey To The Center Of The Mind". The Dukes didn t last, but Nugent s career did as he set out on a solo career in the mid-seventies. The last years of the seventies proved to be Nugent s pinnacle as a recording artist with the release of such hard-rock classics as "Free-For-All" (1976), "Cat Scratch Fever" (1977), "Double Live Gonzo" (1978), and finally "State Of Shock"(1979). "State Of Shock" finds long-time Nugent producer Lew Futterman (Cat Scratch Fever, Free For All) manning the boards and bringing life to one last blast of seventies metal from The Nuge! In a year that had the soft-rock sounds of Fleetwood Mac and the last notes of Donna Summer-disco filling the airwaves, it s almost amazing that State Of Shock was able to reach #18 on the Billboard Albums Chart! Another American Beat Records hard-rock exclusive.
