When Tedi Papavrami began planning a CD program Bartók s Sonata, he soon ran up against the difficulty of choosing the other works that would echo the piece. Bach s Fantaisie & Fugue BWV 542 had fascinated him from the first time he heard it, and his choice for the second transcription readily went to a work of a thoroughly different nature. The Suite, BWV 822 for harpsichord charmed him straightaway with its orchestral overture à la française and Italian influences.
