Loulou Boislaville (1919-2001) was a musical legend from the island of Martinique, a French territory in the Caribbean. As part of his work on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he led the Grands Ballets Martinique and the Groupe Folklorique Martiniquais. These two groups served a dual purpose of helping to preserve the island"s rich traditional heritage as well as promoting tourism. In addition to his live performances and recordings, Boislaville"s long and rich career included numerous appearances in movies, films and television. This collection of recordings from 1967-1973 features Boislaville leading the Groupe Folklorique Martiniquais in a selection of eighteen tracks of traditional Caribbean music.
