Dieterich Buxtehude"s organ works are his most significant contribution to the history of music. They consist of a comprehensive corpus of 90 compositions, of which more than half are choral settings. The present selection completes the series of five organ albums within the Opera Omina and contains free and chorale-based compositions. Ton Koopman is an organist who has performed on the most prestigious historical instruments of Europe. Koopman concludes the organ recording series on yet another rare, beautifully restored baroque organ and fills the remaining album space with the complete works of Nicolaus Bruhns, Buxtehude"s most notable pupil.
