This CD contains the remainder of the Savoy recordings cut at five hastily arranged recording sessions during early 1951. Little Esther had, by this time, left the Otis aggregation, to be replaced briefly by Linda Hopkins, while Mel Walker continued to be an asset with his #2 R&B hit Gee Baby, which was sandwiched between the lesser successes of the instrumental Mambo Boogie (#4) and one of Johnny"s then rare vocals on All Nite Long (#6). The final Savoy hit would be the #10 Sunset to Dawn (recorded August 1950, charted January 1952) by which time Otis and the band had upped sticks and signed to Mercury Records.
