Gerhard Oppitz ranks among the most well-known and important German pianists of his generation. He has concertized internationally and specializes in performing complete cycles of piano works by a single composer in concert, such as all 32 Beethoven Piano Sonatas. Similarly, Oppitz has favored completeness in the recording studio, as in his recently completed cycle of the complete Beethoven Sonatas for hänssler CLASSIC. As we have come to expect from Oppitz, he performs this program with his characteristic balance of intellectual understanding and emotional intensity.
