Born from the creative ferment around the Papal chapel in Avignon, the Messe de Tournai is undoubtedly the oldest polyphonic Mass to have survived. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary, it has the breadth and the majesty of the greatest Gothic architecture. The De Caelis ensemble (conducted by Laurence Brisset) integrates the Mass into the Office as celebrated in a convent of nuns.
