This guide to tort law begins by considering the three basic types of conduct that can give rise to tort liability and the defenses the defendant can assert to avoid that liability: intentional tort, negligent conduct, and strict liability. It also covers additional doctrines that govern how responsibility is allocated among multiple tortfeasors.
