The Depreciation Guild has been extremely busy since they self-released In Her Gentle Jaws in 2007. Feldman, now joined by the Hochheim twins, has been pulling double duty touring the world (US, UK, Japan) as front man of The Depreciation Guild and as drummer for indie darlings The Pains of Being Pure At Heart. Last year, In Her Gentle Jaws was reissued on vinyl & CD, Dream About Me was released as a single - all leading up to the release of their sophomore full-length Spirit Youth - out on Kanine May 18th. Spirit Youth sees the trio plus honorary 4th member - a vintage Famicom system - taking a considerable leap forward. Though it blends 8 bit technology and The Depreciation Guild have often been grouped into shoegaze, the album, produced by Josh Eustis from Telefon Tel Aviv, should not be strictly classified by either. Spirit Youth hopefully will rewrite just about every assumption about Brooklyn s most promising dream-pop band.
