DATA ANALYSIS WITH MICROSOFT ACCESS 2010 is an introductory text focused on those topics in Access that are most relevant to data analysis. The emphasis is on data retrieval and in transforming data into structures that are useful for analysis. The goal is to help the analyst gain a true understanding of data and the information it contains. Access queries are covered in detail, both in terms of the mechanics of their design, and how they can be used for typical data analysis tasks. The book pays close attention to the GUI (graphical user interface) of Access, and explains how the interface relates to the SQL logic that lies beneath all queries. The author also broadens the concept of data analysis to encompass Business Intelligence (BI) topics. This includes a discussion of basic dimensional modeling, as well as the use of Access and Excel pivot tables. While the emphasis in the book is on Access queries, there is also discussion of Access tables, and extra material on forms, macros and reports in an appendix.
