Glam finds Mouse On Mars off on a warm, graceful tangent filled with long phrases and tempered rhythms. Originally released in 1998 as a soundtrack for a film that never made it to theaters, Glam takes full advantage of MoM"s intricate electronic palette, creating a relaxed, cinematic sound. Andi Toma and Jan St. Werner"s manic glitch tendencies are here in short bursts, like the skittery melodies that run through "Mood Leck Backlash." But even when Toma and Werner are being their usual scatterbrained selves, slipping in every musical squeek and squibble they can coax from their laptops, the record sounds more like background music than most Mouse. Closer to the experimental minimalism of Markus Popp, Werner"s partner in Microstoria and the man behind Oval, Glam is a fascinating collection. --Matthew Cooke
