Carl Stovner and Arrah Fisher signed up for an open mic night last December without having written any songs first. They quickly gathered to prepare (while a certain vegan friend of theirs was being dumped in the next room). To their surprise, they made a few short songs and wanted to share the experience with their best friend in the whole wide world, David Segedy. With much cajoling, Fisher and Stovner got Segedy to join the open mic adventure. One would think it ended there, but no - it was just the beginning. The final result is Evan is a Vegan, a jangly collection of upbeat songs recorded in an empty guesthouse in an Indiana cornfield. On Evan is a Vegan, Arrah & The Ferns combine their signature live sound consisting of Wurlitzer organ, electric guitar, and banjolin with horns, rowdy crowds, and violin.
