For an actor who never sang in the movies Dana Andrews was nevertheless in seven major films in the forties which were musicals or in which music played an important part. They are: Laura; State Fair; Up In Arms; Fallen Angel; Canyon Passage; My Foolish Heart; The Best Years Of Our Lives. On this CD the various numbers taken from these films are performed by bands and artists who were either featured in the films in question or who were contemporaries such as Ralph Flanagan, Jerry Gray, Victor Young, Glenn Miller, Andre Kostelanetz, Tex Beneke, Johnny Green, Frank Cordell and Emil Newman. All in all, a potpourri of the major bands and artists of the period and Dana Andrews does get to have the last word.
