Bobby Matos is a survivor and defender of certain Afro_ Antillean musical traditions which are indispensible roots of contemporary Latin Jazz. He brings a "streets of New York" edge to his work and provides a fundamental element that too many young lions are skipping over. His group is an incubator for young talent and of course attracts old school veteranos as well.
