This Palestinian blend is made of certified organic thyme with sumac, roasted sesame seeds and a touch of sea salt. Za"atar is a flavorful and very versatile blend. It can be used as a table condiment, dusted on food on its own, or stirred into olive oil as a dip for bread. It can be spread on bread before baking; or used as a dry rub for roast chicken, lamb or starchy vegetables like cauliflower or potatoes. Sprinkle on eggs, yogurt or oatmeal to add zest to your breakfast. Adding za"atar to lemon cookies makes for a special treat. You can also enjoy it as a snack just on its own, similar to popcorn. The thyme in this mix is wild collected from the hills near Jenin, in the Palestinian territories, and blended in women owned cooperatives.
