The Graphic Design Exercise Book (Paperback)
The basic through advanced assignments in this book can be used as prompts to inspire recent graduates and designers to develop their own projects and expand their portfolios. The graphic design genres covered are packaging, visual identity and branding, page layout, music graphics, and screen-based design. Each genre section includes an overview of concepts, a glossary, a reading list, and a list of equipment. The assignments, or "briefs," include an explanation of requirements, suggestions for research, and ideas for design development and presentation. Each assignment is accompanied by six illustrated, annotated examples, composed of a mixture of hand-generated roughs and computer visuals, of different solutions to the assignment by real international professionals. The book contains color examples and illustrations on each page, and includes a design directory. Knight and Glaser run a design company and both hold posts in the graphic communication department of the University of Wolverhampton, UK. Annotation ©2010 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
