Beltaine is proud to announce the release of their third CD, a Christmas CD called Winter Wind. The CD is a collection of Christmas music from around the world featuring dulcimer, guitar, and flute. The tunes are bright and happy, a perfect way to celebrate this special holiday season. Sit back with your favorite warm drink and listen to the sounds of the season! There are 17 instrumental tracks that take you on a journey through the history of Christmas through music, starting in the 13th century with March of the Three Kings to more contemporary tunes like Up on the Housetop and The Little Drummer Boy. We also included one of our most asked for tunes called The Dancing Bear. It is not really a holiday tune, but it shares the same spirit and hope that the season brings. One listener said; Winter Wind" is a wonderful addition to the season of waiting and watching. The music reminds us that we are not the first to marvel at the change of the seasons and the gifts that each season brings. The liner notes are extensive and they tell the history and stories of the traditional tunes performed. The cover is a painting by Eileen George, another very talented dulcimer player in the Northwest. It is the perfect picture to represent the music that is on the CD. Beltaine s music is traditional folk music from America, England, Scotland, Ireland, Finland, and many other countries around the world. Our arrangements try to blend the instruments together to make cheerful, energetic sounds that float through the air and embrace the heart and soul of the listeners. Beltaine performs though out the Northwest at many festivals and venues, including The Governor Hotel, Northwest Folkife, Pittock Mansion, Oregon Country Fair, and the Yachats Celtic Music Festival.
