The Successful Failures is the new band from FDR-label owner and Dipsomaniacs" singer/songwriter Mick Chorba. Originally an alt-country side project, the group has evolved into a full rock n roll outfit with a sound reminiscent of Guided By Voices, Superdrag, and The Shins with the jangly melodic sensibilities of artists like Marshal Crenshaw and the Moberlys. The Successful Failures released their very successful full-length, self titled, debut CD in the summer of 2006. The new album, Ripe for the Burning, features less jangle and more rawk - the songs still have hooks, hooks, hooks. The Successful Failures spent some time in the summer of 07 in Knoxville, TN recording with Superdrag drummer turned producer Don Coffey Jr - the album"s single, All I Can Take, is the fruit of their labors. SF is a band to watch.
