Ray Charles is an American artist who is best known for paving the genre of soul music in the 1950"s by combining rhythm & blues, gospel, and blues styles. In 2004, Rolling Stone ranked Ray number 10 on their list of "The 100 Greatest Artists of All Time" and was voted number 2 on their list of "The 100 Greatest Singers of All Time" in November 2008.
