Due to tubeless setups, it"s become a pain to quickly swap tires for the conditions. And while professional race teams will have multiple tires pre-mounted and ready-to-go, the rest of us are left frustrated and jealous. That"s why the Schwalbe Rocket Ron EVO 26in TL-Ready Tire is a favorite of ours. Tapered tread lugs give the Rocket Ron the ability to provide traction in a variety of conditions. This especially appealing, because the low weight of the tire underscores its intent as a race tire that"s designed to get you to the finish first. With the Rocket Ron, you don"t have to settle for either fast or gripp"y -- you get both. Compared to the Racing Ralph, the slightly more prominent blocks have been spaced a bit further apart in order to achieve more void space. This is part of the reason that it self-cleans in the mucky stuff, leaving you with continued traction to drive down the trail. Adding to the Rocket Ron"s ability to cover different conditions is Schwalbe"s PaceStar Triple Compound. Schwalbe engineers recognize that it"s not possible for one compound to do it all, so they"ve combined three to optimize the tire"s performance. The low-profile tread of the Rocket Ron is fast, and it"s still an excellent cornering tire due to the U-Block shoulder tread. These tread blocks are angled around 20 degrees towards the outside of the tire. A small sipe doesn"t quite divide the block, creating the "U" shape. They work to counteract the lateral forces endured when cornering in order to both maintain traction and to keep the bike stable. This tire is designed to be tubeless ready (TL), which means that you"re able to say goodbye to pinch flats. A tubeless system allows you to run less air pressure, again enhancing the grip of the tire"s tread. Better traction, less vibration, and no flats is the formula for an excellent ride. It"s necessary to use a liquid sealant within the tire in order to seal the bead seat and to quickly seal thorn or debris punctures on t...
