The cosmos of Mahler"s songs is by nature smaller and more straightforward than that of his symphonies, and yet within these narrow confines, Mahler achieves an intensity of expression hardly inferior to them. Born in Limburg in 1956, Christoph Prégardien began his musical career as a cathedral choirboy. Today he is one of the world"s outstanding lyric tenors, working with conductors like Barenboim, Nagano, Sawallisch, Gardiner, Harnoncourt, and others. His repertoire ranges from the oratorios and Passions of the Baroque, through the Classical and Romantic periods up to the present day.
