This book is about the dramatic history of the Baltic states and its indigenous population, mostly Estonians, in the situation of the rivalry of Germans, Slavs, the Western world (mostly Catholics) and the Eastern world (mostly Orthodox). The book covers eight centuries, and traces the fate of the peoples on the territory and their departure from Russia in 1920.
